What do you think of the positive externality that creating an educated society is with regard to privatization of schooling? Is it so powerful that it is worth government subsidy?

It is clear that something needs to be done to improve public schools. I'm a huge proponent of vouchers to do this. Is it still worth removing all control of government from the equation however? The positive externality of having everyone in society be educated is very compelling. Regardless, reform is needed.
