From State Representative Lorence Wenke:

He complained the GOP spends too much time trying to tell citizens "how to live their lives" and the party is "too anti-government."
Which is it?

Why do you sound as if it cannot be both? It would be quite revealing if the answer is that you cannot distinguish the party from the government. That's much more interesting to think about.

Privatise everything, but restrict gay marriage/abortion. Makes sense? Wrong.

That was my point in a sense. The positions taken by the GOP and, more relevantly, by most of the WMUGOP are typically in line with what you said. The overall message is that we should have no government except where matters of morality are concerned. In other words, Wenke was exactly right. The GOP does spend too much time telling people how to live their lives but at the same time it is too anti-government. It is the contradiction in conservative political philosophy.
