Michigan's governor, congressional seats, and the entire state legislature will be up for election November 2026.US Senate: Tossup
Senator Gary Peters is retiring after two terms.
Congresswoman (18-26) Haley Stevens is seeking the seat, and is the favorite of the D establishment. Abdul El-Sayed was Detroit health director and ran for governor in 2018. He is an Islamist running as a far-left progressive. State senator (18-26) Mallory McMorrow dropped out of the race but will still be on the ballot.
The R nominee will be former congressman (00-14) Mike Rogers, who represented a Lansing-based district. He was the R nominee for Senate in 2024, losing 48.3-48.7 to Elissa Slotkin.
Governor: Lean D
Governor Gretchen Whitmer is term limited.
Secretary of State (18-26) Joscelyn Benson is the leading D candidate. Benson has attracted criticism due to her mismanagement of the SOS office, especially during the pandemic. Genesee County Sheriff (20-P) Chris Swanson is also running.

Congressman (22-26) John James, who previously ran credible races for US Senate in 2018 and 2020, has President Trump's endorsement. Former Attorney General (02-10) Mike Cox is running again after seeking the governorship in 2010. Businessman Perry Johnson previously ran for governor in 2022, but was disqualified due to signature fraud. He ran a vanity campaign for president in 2024. State senator (18-26) Aric Nesbitt dropped out of the race but will still be on the ballot.
Attorney General: Tossup
Progressive lesbian attorney Dana Nessel is term limited. The D nomine is Washtenaw County prosecutor (20-P) Eli Savit. He is a progressive prosecutor who vowed to "end the era of mass incarceration".
Secretary of State: Tossup
Incumbent democrat Joscelyn Benson is term limited and running for governor. The D nominee is Lieutenant Governor (18-26) Garlin Gilchrest, who does not have any experience administering elections.
Other Statewide Offices
Two seats on the state Board of Education and boards of trustees of U of M, MSU, and WSU will be up for election. All seats up are held by Democrats. They have swept these elections in 2006, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022, while Republicans swept in 2010. Incumbents are denoted with *. The candidates are

There will be a question on the ballot whether there should be a Michigan constitutional convention. This is on the ballot every 16 years according to the Michigan constitution.

Democrats currently hold a 6-1 majority on the court. There are two full-term seats up for election on the Michigan Supreme Court. They are those of liberal incumbent Ds Megan Cavanagh and Noah Hood. Cavanagh was first elected in 2018, and Hood was appointed in 2025. The R nominees are Casandra Morse-Bills and Michael D. Warren Jr.

Kalamazoo County Judges:
8th District Court (4 positions): Incumbent Kathleen Hemingway is unopposed. Incumbent Namita Sharma was disqualified due to petition errors. Mark Holsomback and Rachel Vinales are seeking two nonincumbent positions.
