Today is George Washington's birthday. Washington was an incredible man. He fought the French and Indians as a young man. He was a successful plantation owner (who was the richest President ever). He commanded the American army during the Revolutionary War. His courage, dedication and leadership were indispensable to our victory. He was President of the Constitutional Convention. He was the first President of our country. (More on Washington here).
Perhaps most amazingly, he turned down the chance to become king, choosing instead to help found a constitutional republic like none that had ever existed before. He believed in very strict limitations on government power. He should be a hero to all conservatives. He was truly the father of our country.
