Pfizer job cuts

Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant that is a major employer in Kalamazoo County, announced plans for major job cuts worldwide. That includes 250 research jobs in the City of Kalamazoo. As they still employ 4000 people in this county, it could have been worse. Ann Arbor will lose 2000 Pfizer jobs.

This seems to be a tradition in this area. Every few years, the pharmaceutical company that was Upjohn, Pharmacia and Upjohn, Pharmacia, and now Pfizer cuts more jobs in this county.

Pharmaceutical companies have been frequent targets of attack by Democrats in recent years. Whatever their faults, these companies make drugs that save many thousands of lives. Yet Democrats are pushing legislation that would impare their ability to save more lives.

In Michigan, one of the major items on the Democrats' agenda is legislation that will make it easier to sue drug companies.

Nationally, Democrats are pushing legislation for government to "negotiate" lower drug prices. Depending on how it is implemented, this could impose price controls. Another de facto imposition of price controls is the reimportation of prescription drugs from Canada.

Price controls would reduce the amount of money that drug companies have to conduct the very expensive research needed to save lives. Thousands of people could die needlessly so that Democrats can win a few more votes.

What do you call launching a war in Iraq under false pretenses and then arguing that we can't switch Commander-in-Chiefs during war time? Sounds like thousands of people DID die just so the GOP could win a few more votes.

Somehow I don't believe that if we were in control that it would have prevented Pfizer from cutting jobs, and the same would go if DeVos had won.

Allan, the students of wmu are tired of you hate-filled rants. In today's Western Herald , the College Democrats offer a chance for you to redeem yourself and make things right. You complain about us running the university, but your hatred of everyone that doesn't fit you ideal ideological profile is proof that you are the problem, not us. An honest apology to the faculty and students is necessary, and is not just expected, but demanded.

It takes a special sort of arrogance to claim to speak for all WMU students. It's sad, but not surprising that you can't write four sentences without lying about me.

You can demand all you want, but eventaully everyone learns that you can't always get your way. We will never apologize for telling the truth.

Yeeeeehaw, we got ourselve's a feud!

Glad to see both sides have nothing better to do.

HEY! It kinda mirrors national politics!

There is a distinct difference between a feud and another rising above the muck.

Telling the truth there Allan? So where's the proof? All you have is hearsay! You have no evidence beyond the opinions of some students. Do you have video? Recordings? No? Well then....I guess the statement does have a point. Come with it if you got it!!! You’re not interested in the truth and you know it. You just need to make yourself think all universities because your movement can’t gain ground among the elite because it’s all about fear and slander!

The facts we publicize are backed by documentary evidence and eyewitness accounts. None of them are based on hearsay. Most of them are not even disputed. The hysterical reaction to the publicization of these facts suggests that the left has a lot to fear from their exposure.

What documentary evidence? Where is it available for review? How did you collect, organize, and store it? Did you send in observers not part of the WMU GOP to independently support your claims? You are, ironically, very much like the current administration in this regard. You say you have evidence but we can't see it, but you say that we should take you on faith! Seeing what happened on the grander scale, we have to stop you at the local level you can rest assured we will do just that. And again, you know you have to prove to yourself the universities are liberal to feel better about your worldview. You're not getting away on this one buster!

The document lists its sources. They can be reviewed in the library. As stated earlier, most of the facts listed are not even disputed. Somebody who makes things up had no standing to attack our evidence.
