Fresh off of passing a bill to let a hundred million or so legal and illegal immigrants into this country, the Senate is preparing to consider setting up a race-exclusive government for native Hawaiians. This bill would be a disaster for a number of reasons, as laid out in this National Review editorial. The proposed race-based government would also have the power to secede from the United States.

"We are trying to spread democracy around the world, but that message doesn't seem to have reached the sponsors of S. 147. The bill does not assure that the new race-based government will be democratic; nothing in the bill prevents it from becoming a theocratic monarchy (with a new Queen Liliuokalani?). "
