When Adam pointed out that everyone does that, you first tried to defend Giuliani using 9-11. Only later did you fall back upon your second point, after realizing that your first was indefensible.

Your second point, which Adam was not addressing at all, and thus, in defending him, neither was I, is that Edwards is making up shit to support his viewpoint. Okay, we're all agreed on that.

So yeah, we agree on your central point. We just disagree with your attempt to defend your weaker point, which you conceded later.

Just so we're on the same page here.Drewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18303671797250722224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22328391.post-28279849416778114082008-01-14T08:21:00.000-05:002008-01-14T08:21:00.000-05:00My main offense (and the article's) to Edwards' ta...My main offense (and the article's) to Edwards' tactic was his twisting and misrepresentation of the situation, not merely the fact the girl's story was told. Find me a politician that has never referenced a specific narrative of some tragic event to make the case for a policy they are recommending.

Illustrating an example of a policy failure in practice reminds us of the consequences that poor policy has. This isn't the central debate of the article. The point is that CIGNA was not responsible for this girl's death. Edwards would like you to think that it was, and thus we should write him a blank check on his policy ideas to "fix this terrible problem so the big bad corporations can't kill any more little girls," but it simply isn't the case.Matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01589348340696976854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22328391.post-76754240177759169672008-01-13T01:02:00.000-05:002008-01-13T01:02:00.000-05:00"Terrorists are responsible for the deaths of the ..."Terrorists are responsible for the deaths of the 9/11 victims. We can combine it with the well-accepted premise that "if terrorists are responsible for the emotional issue, it's okay to use it for political gain" to finish the syllogism, concluding that it's okay for Republicans to use 9-11 for political gain.Drewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18303671797250722224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22328391.post-2314049563834064542008-01-11T20:13:00.000-05:002008-01-11T20:13:00.000-05:00Terrorists are responsible for the deaths of the 9...Terrorists are responsible for the deaths of the 9/11 victims. They are hard to come by and some people wait years for an organ.

So when I first heard about this, I couldn't help but wonder what this health care plan Edwards was pushing would look like. Would I be forced to give up a healthy organ whenever someone else needs one?
And then when you keep the low availability of organs in consideration, why would a hospital try putting one in someone who didn't really need it?
The whole situation is fishy.Dan Rothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00519048076998229138noreply@blogger.com
